温哥华市政府说,截止到3月5日空置房屋申报最后期限, 已经收到近14万多份房屋空置或未充分使用的报告。对于2132户空置住宅的拥有者没有在截止日之前提交申报文件,市政府将把他们列入需要缴纳空置税的业主名单之中。
温哥华是加拿大第一个开征房屋空置税的城市, 税率为房屋市场价值的1%。 卽价值100万元的房子一年要交1万元的空置税。
市政府经过初步的评估,结果有8,481套空置房屋需要缴纳空置税。
实际上,只有几种原因可以免除缴纳房屋空置税,诸如房屋正在翻修当中, 或者屋主因年龄身体健康等原因住进了敬老院等。
温哥华市长罗品信强调:“城市的房屋首先是供人居住的,不能仅被当作商品。 温哥华的空房率几乎接近零, 造成租房非常困难。我们实施房屋空置税,就是要让更多的房屋向租房市场开放”。
根据市政府的统计资料,在空置和未充分使用的住房中, 有约60%是公寓单元。空置房屋最集中的地区恰恰是温哥华市中心, 有2244套空置住宅。西温则有735套。

Vacant home registration in Vancouver ends, more than 8,000 homes have to pay vacant tax
The Vancouver City Council said that as of the March 5 deadline for reporting vacant homes, nearly 140,000 homes have received vacant or underutilized reports. For owners of 2,132 vacant homes who did not submit their filings by the deadline, the municipal government will include them in the list of owners who are required to pay vacant taxes.
Vancouver is the first city in Canada to levy house vacancy. The tax rate is 1% of the value of the housing market. A house worth 1 million yuan is subject to a vacant tax of 10,000 yuan a year.
After a preliminary assessment by the municipal government, 8,481 sets of vacant houses were required to pay vacant taxes.
In fact, there are only a few reasons that can be exempted from paying vacant housing taxes, such as when a home is being renovated, or because the owner is in good health due to age and other reasons.

The mayor of Vancouver, Mr. Luo Pinxin, stressed: “The houses in the city are first of all for human habitation and cannot be used only as commodities. The vacancy rate in Vancouver is almost zero, which makes renting very difficult. We implemented a vacant housing tax to make more housing. Open to the rental market.”
According to the statistics of the municipal government, about 60% of the vacant and underutilized houses are apartment units. The most concentrated area of vacant houses is downtown Vancouver, with 2,244 vacant homes. There are 735 sets in West Vancouver.
